‘Tis the season for all things twinkling and lovely, as well as all things sugary and sweet. While the holiday season is certainly one of merriment and anticipation, it can also be a devastating time for people in regards to their physical and emotional health. This year, commit to making it a happy and healthy season with a few of our tips.

Drink More Water
The majority of Americans are dehydrated at any given moment. This season, focus on healthy water intake and steer clear of sugary or caffeinated beverages. Chug water instead of cocktails, and you will notice the benefits.

Eat Something Healthy First
Before you hit that holiday buffet, fill your tummy with a healthy choice first. Grab a handful of veggies from the vegetable tray and munch on those before you take a slice of your favorite pie. You will feel more full thanks to the fiber in healthy foods and can indulge without needing that second slice of sugary goodness.

Don’t Feel Badly About Saying No
If you aren’t drinking this season, or if you are committed to sticking to your low sugar diet, don’t be afraid to tell your friends and family members. It can feel easier to just say “okay” when Uncle Glen offers you that glass of eggnog for the third time, but you will feel empowered and healthier if you just say “no thanks”.

Saying no doesn’t just apply to your food and drink intake. The holiday season is full of events and get-togethers, and you may not feel up to attending every single one. That’s ok! Just say no thank you and only attend the events you want to.

Wash Your Hands
Germs are everywhere this time of year, and you don’t want to feel crummy during this busy season. Be sure you are washing your hands and practicing good hand hygiene to avoid getting a cold.

Get Adjusted
Let the team at Select Health Chiropractic give you, and your entire family, the gift of adjustment this season. Your body is able to function better when you are adjusted, and you will notice you (and your kiddos) can sleep better after an adjustment.
